2. Group A will story map chapter 5 and Group B will story map chapter 6.
3. Switch posters. Do you agree? Did they forget anything?
Activity #4 - Six-Word Memoir
1. Remember last week we looked at six-word stories?
Examples: Left handed woman seeks Mr. Right
For sale: baby shoes, never worn.
2. Take a look at this six-word memoir:
This world, all corners, is me.
3. Six-word memoirs should be about yourself, but can be about many different things!
- Your history
- Your worldview
- Your career
- Your hopes for the future
- Your regrets
- Etc.
4. As part of your final writing portfolio, you will include at least one six-word memoir. You will have a chance to write several drafts and revise it before the end of the course.
5. Take about 10 minutes to start brainstorming ideas, sentences, themes, etc. for your six-word memoir. A couple suggestions for getting started:
- Write a few sentences about your topic and choose the 6 most important or interesting words.
- Play with word order and punctuation.
- Ask a friend to read it and interpret it. Ask for suggestions on word choice and word order.
6. Homework: Bring in a rough draft of your six-word memoir on Wednesday to share with the class (you can bring more than one, if you like!)
