Grammar Rules -- Would vs. Will
We use will:
would is the past tense form of will. It is used:
First Conditional
Second Conditional
Third Conditional

- to talk about the future – to say what we believe will happen
- to talk about what people want to do or are willing to do
- to make promises and offers
would is the past tense form of will. It is used:
- to talk about the past.
- to talk about hypotheses – things that are imagined rather than true.
- for politeness.
First Conditional
- If I have enough money, I will go to Japan.
Second Conditional
- If I had enough money, I would go to Japan.
Third Conditional
- If I had had enough money, I would have gone to Japan.
